The Antigua Oral History project aims to preserve the musical and cultural history of Antigua and Barbuda in schools, universities, communities, churches, tourist areas, Carnival venues, and steelband competitions by conducting a nation-wide oral history project. This project is uniquely focused on collecting the musical and cultural histories of Antiguans—and the Antiguan diaspora abroad— as told in their own words by those who lived it and those who continue to practice these cultural traditions.

The collected oral history interviews will be processed (recorded, transcribed, and collated) and then displayed online in a freely accessible website/database.
Education
Education
Program objectives include providing oral history resources and fieldwork training for local Antiguans. This includes any interested persons ages secondary students to university to adults and seniors. No prior experience necessary and participants can earn UWI-Open campus certificates!

Connecting to the Antiguan Diaspora afar
Interviews from the Antiguan diaspora spread across the globe will be an intergral part of the oral histories collected for the project.

The Antiguan Oral History project has the support and backing of the US Embassy Eastern Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Education, Culture Division, and most Antiguan steelbands.
